This INIT simply shows a picture when you restart or shutdown your machine. I suppose it is the opposite of a StartupScreen. It should work on any machine that has a Shutdown Manager. If you don't know whether your Mac has a Shutdown Manager, try using this INIT anyway. If it doesn't work, then you were about to restart anyway, right?
I'm afraid I can't take all the credit for this idea because I stole it from Lunarmobiscuit. His email address is ml10@andrew.cmu.edu. Thanks!
CUSTOMIZATION
If you feel comfortable with ResEdit you can customize the pictures and duration that they are on the screen. The 'TIME' resource is the number of ticks (60ths of a second) that ShutDownScreen leaves the picture on the screen. You can change the picture that is displayed by pasting in new pictures. The picture chosen is always 201 if you have a B&W computer. If you're in color, the picture chosen is 200+the number of bits per pixel. If the optimal picture isn't found, ShutDownScreen scans down to 201 by 1's. For example, if your in 24-bit mode, ShuwDownScreen looks for 224. If that PICT isn't found it tries 223, etc, until it gets to 201.
FUTURE ATTRACTIONS
Version 2.0 of this wonderful software will have a Control Panel interface to simplify the customization process. I might add sound too. If you have any great ideas, mail me.
